The Johnson's Fence Project on Fox Island - Fox Island, WA
The Johnson’s fence project was a custom fence build we completed in the late summer of 2018 on Fox Island. We typically don’t work as far away from home as Fox Island, but after the Johnson’s visited some of our previous fence builds they expressed a genuine desire to work with us, so we made an exception. After meeting with them on site and hearing what they were looking for from the fence and design, we provided an estimate and got them on the calendar.
The design we landed on was a unique modern horizontal fence with a few upgrades. We used all larger rough cut cedar lumber, as opposed to the the normal surfaced lumber we build with. We installed true 4” rough cut cedar fence posts, and then we painted them red to match the house trim. For the fencing we installed an alternating pattern of upgraded 1” thick rough cut cedar fence boards that we custom cut on site into 2” & 4” boards. We trimmed out the tops with rough cut cedar 2x4s and the sides were trimmed out with 2x2s. To wrap it all up we sprayed the fence with 2 coats of Sikkens stain to match the cedar siding on the home.
