The Jansen's Covered Patio & Circular Firepit Project in Gig Harbor - Gig Harbor, WA
The Jansen’s from Gig Harbor reached out in the fall of 2018 with a long list of projects they wanted Wilder to handle. The first project they decided to tackle getting rid of the old gazebo that was rotting away in their back yard, and replacing it with something a little more useful. Here’s a photo of what the space looked like before we got started.
Our first step was demolishing and disposing of the old gazebo. After the gazebo was gone we knew wanted to keep as many of the existing plants as possible, since they were well established and healthy. After brainstorming a few ideas for what to do with the new space we came up with a design that everyone was happy with. We landed on a circular patio with central wood fire pit. The best part of the whole design was that half of the patio would be covered with a custom patio cover so that the fire pit could be enjoyed rain or shine.
The project took about 2 weeks to complete. The patio was built with roman dominion pavers and the fire pit was built with roman stack wall block, The patio cover was built entirely with rough cut western red cedar lumber and ribbed metal roofing. Overall, we LOVE the way the build came together. Working with the well established base of mature plants really helped the project live nicely where it was built, and made the patio feel like it’s always been there.
